Calling all sororities
February 5, 2010
Sororities that replenish their polo collections at The Peppermint Palm this month will help restore our nation’s trees.
During February, sororities from the University of Kentucky, Transylvania University and Eastern Kentucky University can compete to buy the most polos (anyone can make a purchase in a sorority’s name), and for each polo sold, Lilly Pulitzer, in conjunction with the American Forests organization, will plant a tree.
The sorority with the most polos will win a shopping day at The Peppermint Palm with discounts and prizes, or a donation to its philanthropy.
Shop the store in The Lansdowne Shoppes, 3333 Tates Creek Road, or at www.peppermintpalm.com (be sure to type “Planting Polos,” plus the university and sorority name in the comments line to receive credit for your sorority.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
