Celebrations at two Lexington neighborhoods this weekend
August 24, 2012
Businesses in two Lexington neighborhoods will get together this weekend to throw a celebration for customers. The Chevy Chase Merchants Association will host its third annual street fair 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday with live music and special offers from neighborhood shops and restaurants.
On Sunday, businesses surrounding the Lexington Farmers Market on Southland Drive are planning a big sidewalk sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as a thank-you to the vendors at the market. Participating retailers will be: The Soup Kitchen, Ladybug Landing, Geno’s Formal Affair, Gem Source, Hallmark Trophies and Aerus Electroux.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
