Tame the wild hairy beast
January 4, 2013
Winter is rough on the best of beauty regimes. Products that worked for balmy summer days need to be switched out for those that tackle the drying effects of winter wind and cold.
And one of the hardest-hit areas during the next few weeks will be our hair. Flyaways can be caused by static from winter hats and brittleness can result from frigid outdoor temps and dry, heated rooms.
Neutrogena’s Triple Moisture Collection is an affordable treatment for damaged winter hair featuring ingredients such as olive and sweet almond. Products include shampoo and a hair mask and one of the easiest moisturizing options out there, a leave-in conditioner. Products are around $7 each and are available at drugstores.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
