There’s a party going on at The Morris Book Shop from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. During the third-anniversary celebration everything in the store, 408 Southland Drive, will be at least 20 percent off; check out the blue carts for the best deals.
Live music begins at noon with Dan O’Leary, followed at 2 p.m. by the Coralee and the Townies Trio and a special unplugged set by Rebel Without a Cause at 4 p.m.

If you’ve ever visited Coffee Times and its sister business Street Scene, then you know that there are loads of talented employees there. Not only do they make incredible coffee creations but they are fabulous artists too.
The shop at 2571 Regency Road will host an employee art show 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3. Works range from photography and fashion to floral design and conceptual architecture models. Employee and artist Ivy Oddis even designed the show poster (above).

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
