The Nicole Richie for Impulse collection will launch Wednesday at Macys.com and 100 Macy’s locations including the Lexington store at Fayette Mall.
The limited-edition collection will include peacock feather-print blouses, colorblock cropped sweaters, and faux fur and leather motorcycle jackets. The photo above shoes a feather-print maxi, $89.
Also at Macy’s, an INC fashion show will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 15. There will be informal modeling, personal shoppers and denim fittings. Anyone fitted for a pair of jeans will be entered to win a free pair. And shoppers will get a 20 percent discount shopping pass for that day.

The Marcus Samuelsson American Table for Belgique Cookware Collection will be available at Macy’s in September. Samuelsson is a celebrity chef who was born in Ethiopian, raised in Sweden and owns the award-winning Red Rooster Harlem restaurant in Manhattan.
The 10-piece cast aluminum collection of cookware will include sauce pans, Dutch oven and fry pan. Prices will range from $59.99 to $429.99.

A limited-edition collection of women’s clothing by Karl Lagerfeld will be on sale in the Impulse Department at select Macy’s, including the store at Fayette Mall, starting Aug. 31.
Lagerfeld, the man behind the historic Chanel brand and Fendi, is known for his edgy couture style featuring details such as hand-sewn embroidery and luxurious leathers.
The Macy’s collection will include dresses and modern tweeds, tees and jackets. The items, $50 to $170, also will be available at Macys.com.

It’s the season for trunk shows in Kentucky, prime time to update a wardrobe or find a style that’s more than just off-the-rack.
At this weekend’s shows, you can meet Kentucky first lady Jane Beshear, launching a Frankfort hat and handbag event, or New York-based milliner Christine A. Moore, who will fit you with one of her own designs.

■ Beshear will be at Nitro of Frankfort at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to kick off the store’s annual Derby Hat and Handbag Trunk Show. The first lady will choose her favorite hat, which will go on display and which customers can register to win. The drawing will be Friday, May 6.
Donations will be accepted, and a portion of all hat proceeds will go to Horses and Hope, Beshear’s breast cancer awareness initiative for women working in Kentucky’s horse industry.
There will be more than 150 hats on display Tuesday through Derby Day, May 7, at Nitro, 220 West Main Street. Custom hat design also will be available.
■ Manhattan-based milliner Christine A. Moore is at the Keeneland Gift Shop at Keeneland through Sunday with a collection of her spring hats. Moore will help shoppers select the perfect fit and style.
■ Macy’s at Fayette Mall will host a show of slide jewelry pieces from R. Klein’s Ariel Gem Collection from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Pieces are available in a variety of stones and styles, so shoppers can craft their own unique designs. Call (859) 271-7340 for more information.

Macy’s at Fayette Mall will host a beauty event at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. National beauty experts will take the stage to give you spring make-up and skincare tips followed by a Q&A.
Admission is $10 which includes breakfast and a goody bag valued at over $75. Enter the store starting at 8 a.m. at the Nicholasville Road entrance.

The cosmetics department at Macy’s at Fayette Mall will host a special event Saturday, March 28. Doors open at 8 a.m. for a stage show. Tickets are $15 in advance; a portion of the sales will go to the American Heart Association. Vendors from Estée Lauder, Clinique, Lancôme, Origins, Prescriptives and others will hand out cosmetics and demonstrate new spring merchandise. Breakfast will be provided, and everyone gets a goody bag with a free eyebrow wax from Ecotage Salon, a full-size Estée Lauder mascara and more. We told you in August about Lush cosmetics coming to Macy’s at Fayette Mall; the counter was supposed to open a few weeks ago, but — oh well — it’s finally set to launch Thursday, Oct. 9.
Lush fans go on and on about the brand’s fresh products and organic ingredients: bananas, mango, pineapple and more. Everything is hand-made with expiration dates no less. And Lush counters are shopper friendly, set up deli style with bath bombs, soaps and lotions displayed on wooden tables and in bins.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion.
