Leontine Linens featured in The Washington Post

Leontine Linens, with corporate offices in Georgetown, Ky. and a flagship store in New Orleans, was featured in today’s Washington Post. Writer Terri Sapienza’s roundup of stylish skull-and-crossbones designs for the home included the company’s Jolly Roger motif,  available in about 100 colors on bed linens (pictured above), towels and shower curtains.

“We are known for our monogram specialty, so it’s a departure for us,” said Leontine owner Jane Scott Hodges, a Kentucky native. “But we find it fun to fold in a motif that we think is universal. Monograms aren’t for everyone.”

Right at home with Obamas’ style

Michelle Obama’s inauguration outfits have got to be the most blogged-, Twittered- and talked-about fashions ever.
Not only do I think the first lady made some great choices with vibrant designs from American designers, but it’s wonderful that people are talking about fashion.
Another subject that’s sure to create a buzz is how the new first family will change the look of the White House.
The Washington Post has reported that the Obamas have chosen Michael S. Smith as the decorator for their private rooms.
Based in California, Smith has clients who have included Steven Spielberg and Rupert Murdoch. The California native’s style — a mix of luxurious and simple décor to create comfortable, liveable rooms — is explored in his latest book, Houses (Rizzoli, $50). The photo above is one of Smith’s rooms for a Malibu beach house.

Your server: Harriett Hendren

Harriett HendrenWhile I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece. I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
