Lexington blogger Beth Parker of Seersucker and Saddles won the grand prize in the Shop Your Closet competition hosted by Of Wit and Will, a San Francisco-based online magazine geared toward women.
Her prize: a $1,000 shopping spree at Lexington boutiques with Of Wit and Will founder Suzy Kellems Dominik. In the above photos that’s Beth Parker at left and Kellems Dominik during their Lexington shopping trip.
Parker posts photos of herself wearing everything from J. Crew to Gucci for her blog, Seersuckerandsaddles.blogspot.com. Her prize-winning look for the contest — a striped sweater, slim-fit pants, a Kate Spade clutch and Gucci sunglasses — was a feminine take on the Burberry men’s collection for fall.
On Tuesday, Suzy Kellems Dominik, who collects couture fashion and wore her own Hermes necklace with a vintage dress she discovered in Phoenix, offered fashion tips to Parker as they shopped in stores including Street Scene and Feather Your Next antique mall.
Kellems Dominik suggested that you create your own style by using a mix of pieces. “It’s all about being original,” she said, “and wearing the clothes instead of them wearing you.”

Online fashion and trend magazine Who What Wear has launched a shelter site called Domaine.
Just like its sister site, Domaine takes readers on behind-the-scenes tours of celebrity homes, offers tips from industry experts and includes shopping links to featured products.
One of the first homes featured is the 19th-century New Orleans mansion of Sara Ruffin Costello (shown above), who was creative ­director of the beloved defunct Domino magazine. Rooms include a chic mix of ­velvet sofas, glass-topped coffee tables and heirloom paintings.
There’s a ­Kentucky link when it comes to ­Costello’s list of favorite shopping haunts in the Big Easy. Among her picks: Leontine Linens, owned by ­Lexington native Jane Scott Hodges.

An Elva Fields pop-up
 shop has opened at ­Clodhoppers at The Vogue, 3727 Lexington Road in Louisville.

Elva Fields features one-of-a-kind jewelry created by Taylorsville-based artist Emily Wheat Maynard, who uses a mix of unique beads and vintage finds such as rhinestone earrings and Bakelite buckles. The necklace pictured above features pagoda brooches and faceted coral, $278.

The shop opened April 20. ­Maynard will be at Clodhoppers to help customers select their styles from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The hottest ­accessory this time of year in ­Kentucky is, of course, the hat. To help you find the perfect style, stores are hosting special events showcasing new spring designs.
■ New York milliner Christine A. Moore will be at the Keeneland Gift Shop at the racetrack, 4201 Versailles Road, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday for a trunk show. Moore and the shop’s staff will help customers find the perfect style and fit for this year’s hats.
■ Kentucky first lady Jane Beshear will be at Nitro of Frankfort at 3:15 p.m. Monday to help launch the store’s ­annual Derby Hat Trunk Show. A portion of all hat proceeds will go to Horses and Hope, Beshear’s initiative to bring better awareness of breast cancer to members of the horse industry. Nitro is at 220 West Main Street.
■ Jerome Boutique at 153 Patchen Drive will host a High Tea Derby Hat Bash from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. The ­latest spring hat styles will be shown, and refreshments will be served.

■ Carol Bader Design trunk show 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at AJ’s, 867 East High Street, Suite 120.

■ Hats by Katie trunk show 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18 at  Voce, at 124 Clay Avenue. Refreshments will be served.
