■ Art in the Park is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the grounds at The Woodford Inn, 140 Park Street, Versailles. Vendors will offer art and crafts including paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, glass, wood items and textiles. Free.
■ A crew from the new PBS series “Market Wars” will be filming at the Burlington Antique Show on Sunday at the Boone County Fairgrounds, 5819 Idlewild Road, Burlington. The series from the producers of Antiques Roadshow, will premiere at 9 p.m. July 16, and is a competition featuring expert shoppers searching for finds at flea markets and antiques shows across the country and selling them at auction. Early bird admission for Burlington, 6 to 8 a.m., is $5. Admission from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. is $3, free for ages 12 and younger.
■ The semi-annual sale at Regency Interiors by Gail Moses with associate designers Nancy May and Judy Strassburg will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 2601 Regency Road. There will be 25 percent off storewide and 30 percent to 80 percent off select merchandise. Clearance items include furniture, lamps, rugs, art and other accessories. While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion.
