Congratulations to Debbie Mullins, who won a package of products from beauty megastore Sephora in last week’s Fash Food contest.
Mullins, who lives in Dwarf, just outside Hazard, says she’s a “makeup junkie” and loves Nars blush in the color called Orgasm (“best color in any brand,” she says), Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer, and Sephora’s own brand of eye shadows.
And for all you Sephora junkies, the store at Fayette Mall opens Friday.
July 10th, 2008
It seemed to take forever but the Sephora at Fayette Mall is finally scheduled to open July 11 in the former Eddie Bauer location near Macy’s.
That’s just enough time to jot down your beauty must-have list before hitting the store: maybe a new Nars blush or perhaps one of the Philosophy lip plump glosses in pomegranate, grapefruit or tangerine. A cult favorite for its selection of beauty products, the store features everything from scents by Stella McCartney to eyeshadows by Dior (the 5-colour collection at left is $54 at Sephora).
And on opening day Sephora will donate a portion of sales to Kentucky Children’s Hospital. No word yet on other special events or deals going on that day but we’ll let you know when we find out.

While I grew up in small-town Kentucky I’ve always been fascinated with the cosmopolitan world of high fashion. On the other hand, I love a bargain and the thrill of shopping for just the right piece.
I have a degree in English from the University of Kentucky, and since 2002 I’ve written a column for the Lexington Herald-Leader about shopping, beauty and fashion. During that time I’ve interviewed everyone from designers to boutique owners about trends and style. And I’m still forever searching for the next big sale.
